The Wildlife Research and Training Institute is a State Corporation under the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife. It was established under Section 50 of the Wildlife Conservation and Management Act Cap 376.

The mandate of the institute is to conduct wildlife research to inform decision-making and policy formulation, and provide capacity development through training to enhance wildlife conservation and management.
